How to Block Home Screen Ads on Hisense VIDAA OS Smart TVs

 If you own a modern Hisense Smart TV running VIDAA OS (I have the 65U7K model), you've probably noticed the home screen getting increasingly cluttered with intrusive, auto-playing video ads.

When you buy a great TV, the last thing you want is a giant ad banner screaming at you every time you hit the home button.

After getting properly irritated with it recently, I decided to fix it. Instead of digging through restrictive TV settings, I tackled the problem at the network level on my Fibre router using Parental Controls and Domain Blocking locked strictly to my TV's MAC address.

I used Gemini to help track down and tweak the exact ad-serving domains, and it worked like a charm! No more video ads hijacking the home screen, and the TV is much more enjoyable to use.

Here is the exact setup and the list of URLs you need to block if you want peace and quiet on your TV screen again.

Step 1: Find Your TV's MAC Address

Go into your TV’s network settings, find its MAC Address, and note it down. You’ll use this so your router only blocks these ad servers for the TV, without breaking anything else on your home network.

Step 2: Add These URLs to Your Router’s Blocklist

Log into your Fibre router’s admin interface, head to the Parental Control, Access Control, or URL Filter section, assign it to your TV’s MAC address, and add these domains:

 Note on South African Servers: Notice those -sa.vidaahub.com URLs? Those are the local regional servers delivering specific home screen promo content in SA. Blocking them is key!

Step 3: Clear Cache & Reboot Everything (Crucial Step!)

Smart TVs love to cache home screen layouts, so for the blocking to actually take effect:

  1. Clear the TV Cache: Go to Settings -> System -> Application Management (or App Settings) and clear the system/launcher cache.

  2. Hard Reboot the TV: Unplug the TV completely from the wall outlet for about 30 seconds.

  3. Restart Your Router: Reboot your Fibre router so it flushes its DNS cache and starts enforcing the new blocklist.

  4. Plug the TV Back In: Turn it back on and check your home screen!

My buddy and I really like to do coop games with Borderlands 2, but could never really enjoy it properly. It's quite a common problem that the game experiences LAG when you play over the internet. How to get private co-op to work in Far Cry 3

Last night my good buddy and I decided to give Far Cry 3's co-op campaign a chance. We both like the single player game, but haven't played any form of multiplayer on it, and I knew it's got a dedicated co-op set of maps, so we thought what the hell...
